How are rating points calculated?

The rating is calculated with the Elo system — the same one used in chess.

Starting rating:
Most players start with 200 points.
At the start of the season, the players at the top of the pyramid get a starting bonus based on their position — the higher, the bigger. The bonus decreases evenly and reaches 200 at a set cutoff.
How it changes after a match:
Beat stronger opponents → gain more points
Beat weaker opponents → gain fewer points
Lose to weaker opponents → lose more points
Lose to stronger opponents → lose fewer points

In doubles, the team strength is the average rating of both players, and the change is split between partners in half. The points the winners gain are exactly the points the losers lose.

Important:
• Only played and completed matches count — walkover losses do not change the rating.
• The score margin does not matter — 6:0 and 7:6 change the rating equally.
• The rating is recalculated from the whole season history, so when an old match result is corrected, all later ones fix themselves.

So the rating shows not only how much you play, but also how you do against opponents of different levels.
